Mohanad Shaban

Mohanad started his sporting career as a swimmer at the age of 7. which is a common practice in Egypt. His family found that the modern pentathlon was a more exciting sport for him than swimming; they expected that this sport could build a strong character. At the age of 10, Mohanad achieved his first national medal, and it was the first to many later; his first ever international participation was the 2012 UIPM Biathle World Championship in Dubai; he kept himself busy with the sport with such significant improvements every year, in 2014-2015 seasons Mohanad showed his talent in a couple of national championships putting himself with the top athletes at his age group and beyond. His passion for the sport drove his family to invest their time and money to make him reach his best possible version. In 2014 and 2015, he participated in several international competitions, showed great potential, and had outstanding achievements in different pentathlon formats. In 2016, Mohanad started to focus more and put the youth Olympic Games qualification as his dream, and he started working for it; he participated in the 2016 GBR International and finished in 7th. In his first appearance in the senior world cup series, Mohanad succeeded in qualifying for the final, which is an excellent achievement for someone of his age. He took part in the 2017 UIPM Tetrathlon U19 World Championship, missed the podium with just one spot, and finished fourth, but was able to achieve the gold medal of the team-relay men with his teammate Ahmed EL Gendy. In 2018 Mohanad was so close to his dream that he finished second in the UIPM Tetrathlon U19 World Championship, he had already achieved the qualifying spot, but his teammate Ahmed El Genday got the gold medal in the same event, as the IOC qualification rules allow only one athlete per nation. Mohanad raised the bar and put his dream higher to qualify for Tokyo 2020; after some strong results in 2019 and 2020, He had an unpleasant incident. His left leg was broken during the riding practice just a few days before the first world cup qualification competition, ending his Tokyo 2020 dream. Mohanad learned a lot from the previous years and gained much experience. He returned in 2022 with some solid results and got the 2022 UIPM Pentathlon World Cup bronze medal in Bulgaria, But he also had some ups and downs. Finally, the results were Stunning in the current season (2023), with significant changes in the support personnel team and Mohand's lifestyle. He started the year with 4th place in the 2023 UIPM Pentathlon World Cup in Egypt. He followed it with another solid performance as he achieved the gold medal in the 2023 UIPM Pentathlon World Cup in Turkey, and two weeks later, he got the silver medal in the 2023 UIPM Pentathlon World Cup in Hungry. And finally, with a performance that amazed the whole world, he managed to secure the 2023 World Cup Final gold, held in Ankara, Turkey. This was the in the presence of the gold & bronze medalists from the Tokyo Games and booking the first and most unique spot in Paris 2024 Olympics He now puts all of his hopes on the Olympic dream!
